Her favorite pastimes included gardening, canning the food she harvested in her garden, and preparing meals and baked goods for her family. Due to the fact that she was in generally good health, she was able to keep up with the maintenance of both her house and her yard.

She filled her free time with quilting, which was something she really enjoyed doing.
