Amy Brandzel Obituary, Death Cause – It was only recently brought to our knowledge that Dr. Amy L. Brandzel had passed away; as a result, we feel it is our obligation to inform you of this unfortunate turn of events. Dr. Brandzel was an associate professor at the University of New Mexico, where she was in charge of teaching American Studies as well as Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She was responsible for the education of students in all three areas. In addition to that, she was a member of our Editorial Board for a period of time.

Dr. Brandzel went to the University of Minnesota for both her undergraduate degree and her doctorate in Feminist Studies. While there, she also obtained a secondary concentration in History. According to the allegations made against Dr. Brandzel, those who had a close relationship with her described her as “an intersectional and interdisciplinary scholar, [whose] scholarship works across the connections and contradictions within feminist, GLBT/queer, postcolonial, and critical race theories on identity, citizenship, law, history, and knowledge production.

One of the many reasons you should read their book, Against Citizenship: The Violence of the Normative, is that it contributes significantly to conversations on citizenship and inclusion. This is one of the reasons why you should read it.
