According to reports from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Loop 202 has been reopened to traffic after a fatal accident that occurred in Tempe and included a dump truck. The accident took place earlier today. It is believed that impairment was a contributing factor in the incident that took place, which resulted in an accident. Following the event, the driver of the garbage truck was arrested and taken to the local jail.

The restriction at McClintock caused all eastbound traffic to be rerouted around it; however, the lanes have now been cleared and are once again accessible for use. The driver of the dump truck was a construction worker who was working on a paving project on the freeway at approximately three in the morning on Thursday, according to the authorities, who said that the driver was involved in the accident. The collision took place on the highway that existed there.

The construction worker was able to drive the truck away from the work site and into open travel lanes close to McClintock Drive, which led to him hitting with an SUV that was heading in the opposite direction of where he was going.  The injuries sustained by the driver of the truck as a result of the rear-end collision with the SUV ultimately proved to be deadly for him, and he passed away as a direct result of those injuries.
