- by Sophia Mia
Benjamin Nothstine Obituary, Death Cause – Benjamin Nothstine has unfortunately no longer with us. During this difficult time, please accept our sincerest condolences. He was an active member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in St. Charles, Missouri, as well as the Orchard Farm School Board, where he served for a number of years. Ben enjoyed the time he spent in camaraderie with other churchgoers by ringing the bell at the local church. Ben was the kind of person who never met a stranger because he was so outgoing.
He enjoyed talking to people, going places, and hearing their tales. After meeting the woman he would spend the rest of his life with, Ben wed Charla and devoted 72 years of his life to being a devoted husband. Ben placed a high value on his family and showed that value via his unwavering devotion to them. Ben farmed the land all of his life, but because he enjoyed farming so much, he never had the impression that he had to put in any real effort.
Everyone who knew Ben will miss him tremendously because he was so much liked and cared for. Ben served with pride and distinction in the United States Army during World War II with the 17th Airborne Division under the command of General George S. Patton. He was one of the soldiers who crossed the Rhine River and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. Ben had been a member of the Orchard Farm VFW Post # 4219 for his entire life.
