Betty Townsend was an active person who devoted her life to serving her family, friends, church, and the senior community people she helped develop facilities for in Philadelphia and Baltimore. She was a graduate of the Master of Social Work program at Temple University, and she was a person who was very involved in the community. Her first marriage was to Ted Townsend, which took place in 1948, and they remained married until his death in 1993.

After that, she tied the knot with Clare Milton, to whom she stayed married until 2023. Those who are left behind after her death include her devoted husband Clare, who is now 104 years old, her children Susan, Mark, and Marjory Townsend, and a large family consisting of Pasternaks, Townsends, and Miltons. The First Unitarian Church in Baltimore is going to be hosting their weekly services on the coming Saturday. Our deepest sympathies go out to Beth’s family and friends during this difficult time.
