Boris Sket Obituary, Death Cause – Boris Sket has died. We send our deeepest condolence. Boris Sket, who worked with us for our whole careers and served as a guide and an instructor throughout his life, passed away at the age of 86. We are forced to tell you the sad news about his passing, and it is with a heavy heart that we do so. It is believed that Boris was the one who initially established the study group for speleobiology that is today known as SubBioLab.

His contributions to the domains of zoology and speleobiology in the Dinaric Karst, as well as the rest of the world, will be remembered for generations to come. Both as an independent academic discipline and as a subject that is taught by students at the University of Ljubljana, he was instrumental in the establishment of speleobiology during this time and made a substantial contribution to its growth.  Boris will be remembered for his many years of service to the fields of education and science, as well as for his discoveries and descriptions of a huge number of species that dwell underground and the enigmatic lifestyles they lead. In addition, Boris will be remembered for his many years of dedication to the disciplines of education and science.

His contemporaries and fans desired to pay tribute to his unwavering passion and interest in subterranean life, which did not diminish even in the closing years of his life, by giving the names of several species of subterranean life to him. The scientists who worked with him and those who admired him gave these animals their names in his honor. He launched the work that is currently being carried out by a large number of members of the SubBioLab, and he was responsible for supervising those individuals.
