Bruce Miller Obituary, Death Cause – The Richmond Heights Police Department is saddened to inform the community of the passing of Retired Officer Bruce Miller, who died away quietly on May 1, 2023, in the home he shared with his family in North Carolina. Between the years 1970 and 1974, Bruce served in the United States Navy, which was the beginning of his long and successful career in the public sector. After completing his time at the Naval Reserve Manpower Center in Bainbridge, Maryland, he was given his release and sent back to Northeast Ohio.
On July 7, 1977, Bruce started his career as a police officer for the City of Richmond Heights, and he served in that capacity until September 9, 1996, when he resigned.

Bruce was an early member of our community policing team, and he was the one who conceptualized and launched our Neighborhood Block Watch program. His favorite meal of the day was breakfast, and of course, all of the inmates were aware of this fact. We’ve included a few of his commendations in this post so that you can see how effective he was as a police officer serving our wonderful city in his earlier days. We hope this gives you a better idea of how he performed in those roles. We had a lot of fun writing them, and we hope you will too if you choose to read them.

Now that Bruce has passed away, there are only a few of us remaining who will remember his contagious laugh, his jokes, and his stories. However, we will never forget his devotion to the people of the community and his enthusiasm for the work of law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bruce’s wife, Dottie, and the rest of his family during this difficult time. Additionally, their condolences are extended to anyone and everyone who has ever collaborated with Bruce and is saddened by his passing. Have some peace, Bruce. We’ll never forget you.
