Chief Nethercutt Obituary, Death Cause – The role of Chief Nethercutt is now vacant because no one is currently serving in that capacity. Our deepest condolences are extended to you at this time. After a courageous and protracted struggle against the sickness, our brother Assistant Chief Bruce Nethercutt passed away today after losing his fight with cancer. He showed tremendous bravery and determination as he battled the illness. It is with a heavy heart that we have to provide this information to you, but unfortunately, it is required.

It is possible that both my physical body and my emotional heart will fail me, but the Lord is the one who will always be my source of strength and my portion no matter what happens to me. Bruce was a devoted friend to a vast number of people who worked in our industry, and all of those who held him close in their life will grieve his passing deeply. The idea that our brother is finally at rest and is no longer experiencing any kind of bodily or emotional anguish offers us some degree of consolation.

He is no longer in any kind of pain. We are in a state of sadness as a result of the news of his departure; yet, we are determined in our commitment to do everything in our ability to console his family and respect his legacy. Because Bruce was such an inspiration to everyone in the Fire and EMS community, the loss of him will be felt far beyond the family that he left behind in the GFD. This is because Bruce was a lifelong member of the department.
