Chris Miles Obituary, Death Cause – Footscray Lacrosse Club is in a state of profound sadness due to the passing of Chris Miles, a champion clubman for the club who passed away at the age of 41. During this trying time, our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Ange, his small children Sonny and Grace, his mother Pauline, and his brother Adam. Our sincere condolences go out to all of them. In the year 2000, Chris became a member of FLC and made an early contribution to the State League defense.
During his stint with the club, he participated in a total of 297 senior games and maintained his reputation as a formidable defensive player throughout each season. The only reason he was unable to play in the 2013 Grand Final for any of the four Premiership teams he was on in 2006 (Div 1), 2018 (SL), and 2022 (Div 2) was due of an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament. This ailment prevented him from participating in the game. Chris also competed for the state of Victoria at both the junior and senior levels, and he was a member of the Australian Under-23 squad that participated in the ASPAC Championship in Adelaide in 2004. Since 2017, Chris has been the driving force behind the club’s Primary School programs, Junior recruitment, and Social Lax initiatives. In addition, he instructs junior boys teams on an annual basis. Chris was honored with the title of Best Club Person in 2017, 2021, and 2022 due to his dedication, passion, and commitment to the development of lacrosse, as well as his service on the FLC Committee between the years 2017 and 2021.
