Dan Nash Obituary, Dan Nash Death, Funeral and Visitation

Dan Nash Obituary, Death Cause –  We are all deeply grieved by the news of Mr. Dan Nash, Sr.’s demise. Cade Nash, a firefighter in Rogersville, is named after his grandfather, Mr. Nash. In your thoughts and prayers, please remember to include Cade and the rest of the Nash family. He spent his entire childhood and adult life in Renault, Illinois. On May 30th, he wed the woman he had known since boyhood, Carol (née Schneider) Nash. His first employment was at the Evansville Shoe Factory in Evansville, Illinois, where he made baby shoes.

After that, he took a job as a grain elevator operator with Erdman Henke in Valmeyer, which he held until his close buddy Floyd Meyer found him a position with Mon Clair Grain. He retired in 2013 after suffering from his first knee infection after working there for almost 40 years, during which time the company merged with Monroe Service and Gateway FS. Later on, he was able to lend a hand to his wife in the management of the gift store at Oak Hill Nursing Home, where he put in a lot of hours making sure that the personnel and residents had enough food.

It was nothing unusual to see him there on a daily basis purchasing food for the gift shop from Walmart. Danny was an enthusiastic member of his church and served on the board of the Cemetery and the Consistory. Being a member of the Valmeyer Volunteer Fire Department for more than four decades was one of the things that Danny valued the most. During this period, he was also an active member of the first response team for the fire department. He participated in both the St. Paul UCC Floraville Men’s Club and the Valmeyer Lions Club, of which he was a founding member of both organizations.

Danny was an outstanding patriarch, both as a father and a grandfather. If you were having trouble finding Danny, you could always find him out somewhere playing ball with his grandson Alex. An enthusiastic supporter of the Waterloo Razorbacks baseball team. In addition to his devoted wife of almost 53 years, Carol, he is survived by his daughter Tina Danielle (Albert) Loughary, his grandson Alex Loughary, his sister-in-law Barb Young (Judy Shute), his brother-in-law Joseph Clayton (Jeanette) Schneider, and his sister-in-law Judy (Harold) Wallace.

Nieces and nephews Richard (Karen) Diemert, Kathy (Wally) Halloway, Debbie Diemert, Ronnie (Dena) Diemert, Donnie (Kathy) Diemert, & Pam (Doug) Dufrenne, Mike (Susan) Schneider, Dana (Maureen) Norris, Jenny (Greg) Ray, godchildren Dennis Seidel, & Dawn Walker many great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. His companions in the morning who like their cups of coffee are, of course, indispensible.
