David Johnson Obituary, Death Cause – It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you all of the passing of Life Member David Johnson. Our hearts are heavy as we share this news with you. We are really sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. During the more than 60 years that David spent serving his community in the capacity of a volunteer firefighter with the Citizens Hose Company and the Shortsville Fire Department, he did it without any thought for himself.

During this time, David was a part of both of these groups as a member. Dave devoted his entire life to serving the community as an employee of the fire department. He began his career as a firefighter and eventually rose through the ranks of the Fire Police department. Both of these tasks fell under his purview when he was stationed at that location, hence he is the one to blame for their completion. During our yearly carnival, Dave was also seen operating the Big 6 wheel and directing participants in our fireman’s march.

Both of these activities took place. Both of these occurrences took occurred in the city that we think of as our permanent domicile at this point in time. It is going to be difficult to get over the loss of his sarcastic sense of humor, straightforward demeanor, and contagious smile. In addition to this, he served on the Board of Directors of the organization for a number of years, was a dedicated member of the Fire Police during the course of a number of extended calls, and assisted in any form that was required. As a result of the fact that he was such a good friend to everyone who had the opportunity to meet him, we are all going to miss him very much.
