A brief struggle against illness was ultimately unsuccessful for David Joseph Scanlon, who passed away on December 22 in Pompano Beach, Florida, at the age of 73. He hailed from the city of Beverly. He was the son of Joseph Scanlon, who had died away, and Margaret Scanlon, whose maiden name was Russo. Both of his parents were from Beverly and Pompano Beach, Florida. He was named after his grandfather. Beverly was his place of birth.

David’s two daughters, Erin Scanlon of Beverly and Darcy Scanlon Moulton and her husband, Michael Moulton of Ipswich, as well as his grandchildren Emma, Ali, and Lachlan, as well as his ex-wife, Paula Scanlon of Beverly, are among those who are able to carry on his legacy after his passing. Additionally hailing from Beverly is Paula. David continued his schooling at Boston College after graduating from Beverly High School in 1966, where he had completed his high school studies.

He was a retired United Association Master Pipefitter from Local 138, and he had worked in a number of geographic places to develop infrastructures for important industrial projects, including spending a significant amount of time working on the Alaskan Pipeline. He enjoyed a wide variety of activities and pastimes, such as reading, coin collecting, classic western films, Boston sports, smoking his pipe, steamed lobster with butter, chocolate frappes, amateur pyrotechnics, fishing, competitive cribbage, Eastern philosophy, and spending time with his many friends. He also took pleasure in the company of his many friends. In addition to this, he was a Freemason and a Shriner, both of which he was a great supporter of through his donations. He was a member of both organizations.
