David Taylor Obituary, Death Cause – The demise of David Taylor, the man who founded Dateline Imports, was a sad event that occurred today. The following is a statement that was released by his family. On behalf of the Australian Hairdressing Council, I would like to extend my most sincere condolences to David’s family, friends, and colleagues on your recent loss.
“On May 2nd, 2023, the world lost a genuinely remarkable human being. His name was David Taylor, and he was the creator of Dateline Imports, a company that had its beginnings in Australia in 1977 and afterwards extended to New Zealand.

Because he was such a powerful, healthy, and fit man, we all believed that he would live forever, even though he was already 84 years old. Although his passing came much too soon in our opinion, we take solace in the fact that he went peacefully. Those who had the good fortune to have known him would consider it a privilege to have been in the same room as such a magnificent man. He had an unrivaled work ethic, unequaled dedication, and passion that inspired all of us. Those who had the good fortune to have known him would feel honored to have been in his presence.

He was considered a visionary and contributed to numerous enterprises on a professional level as well as affected the lives of so many people on a personal level, in Australia and around the world. He was also known as the Godfather of the Hairdressing Industry. His legacy continues on in the hairdressing industry. His aim for Dateline was to continue to be the industry leader by introducing new products, innovations, new haircare trends, and services that would thrill the markets in Australia and New Zealand.

It was always David’s hope that his business partners in Australia, Michele Kannis and Voula Karmichael, as well as Troy in New Zealand and the more than 180 employees who lovingly refer to themselves as the Dateline Family, would continue to lead the company after he passed away. We will never forget David, and the legacy he began over half a century ago will live on in his honor. David’s memory will live on in our hearts forever.” Rest in peace, David Taylor, and we are grateful to you for the significant contribution you made to our field.
