Dr Vicky Neale Obituary, Whitehead Lecturer In Mathematics At Balliol College Has Died

Dr Vicky Neale Obituary, Death Cause –Originally from the United Kingdom, Vicky Neale was both a mathematician and a novelist. During her stay at Oxford, she served as the Whitehead Lecturer at the Mathematical Institute and as the Supernumerary Fellow at Balliol College. Both of these positions were held by her. The sad news that Vicky Neale had passed away has caused all of us to be in a state of profound sadness.

From 2014 up to the time of her passing, she held the position of Whitehead Lecturer in Mathematics at Cambridge University. Prior to that, she had been a Supernumerary Fellow there since 2016. Her passing was recorded on May 3rd, 2023. Her loss has left a deep void in the mathematical community at Oxford and beyond, as well as in the hearts of those at Balliol College. ‘Vicky Neale was a brilliant mathematician and an exceptional instructor.

She will be much missed. She had a profound impact on the lives of her pupils, and they, in turn, had a similar impact on her. At the college where she was enrolled, she brought enormous amounts of experience, zeal, humor, and honesty to every aspect of her life there. People loved her for who she was and for everything she did; those whose lives she touched are going to miss her terribly. She was cherished by many people for both who she was and what she did.

As a sign of respect for Vicky, the College flag will be flown at a reduced height until Friday, May 5, and will thereafter return to its normal height on Sunday, May 7.
