Fred Marshall Obituary, Death Cause – The death of Fred Marshall has occurred. We send our sympathies. After going on eight months of lunch dates with Marsha, Fred promised on their wedding day, June 30, 1972, that he would never smash up Marsha’s tricycle again. This led to the couple getting married. They were blessed with three beautiful children as a result of their relationship, and their names are Julie (Spiegel), Jennifer (Marshall-Hoggatt), and Jason.
For seventeen years, Fred served as the controller for Orval Davis Tire in Bolivar. Throughout the remainder of his career, he held the position of collections manager at Great Southern Bank as well as a number of other companies. After completing his high school education at Hillcrest, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he was eventually promoted to the rank of Private First-Class Reserve after serving for a total of four years. Marsha Waggoner, his childhood playmate and the owner of the tricycle that he used to wreck, was waiting for him when he got back to his hometown.
Fred attended the Asbury United Methodist Church in Springfield, where he was a member. He was an avid softball player, participating in as much as two tournaments over the course of a single weekend and pitching in more than twelve games. In the course of his softball career, he was a member of a number of teams, including those representing Asbury Church, Davis Tire, and the Post Office. He finished his softball career by competing with his daughter, Jennifer. He enjoyed participating in and watching sports, taking pictures of his family, going out on the boat, and going on vacation with his family. He will be remembered as a devoted partner, father, and grandfather who loved and cared for his family. He was predeceased by his stepmother Faye Marshall, his stepfather Floyd Newman, his mother Doris Newman, his daughter Julie Spiegel, his grandson Levi Spiegel, and his brother Kenny Newman. His father, Jack Marshall, and stepmother Faye Marshall both passed away before him.
