Ian Clarkson Obituary, Death Cause – Ian Clarkson The news of Brother Ian Clarkson’s passing has left me with a heavy heart and a sense of loss. I was grieved to learn of his passing.
A devout Christian who is also a wonderful father and husband and who in the past has held the posts of Provost, Councillor, and Carter. In addition to all of these accomplishments, he is also a former Provost. My first encounter with Ian was in 1997, when I was serving as Captain of the Irvine Carters and he was a Councillor.

We immediately hit it off and became fast friends. During that time period, both of us were employed by the Irvine City Council. After that, we went on to develop a tight connection that was strong on both a professional as well as a personal level. It was a connection that we kept throughout our lives. After that, Ian was offered the chance to head up the Marymass Festival Committee, which ultimately resulted in him being promoted to the position of Provost at the university.

He had a tremendous zest for discovering new and improved ways to increase the variety of goods and services that Marymass offered to its customers. He had never even ridden a dunkey, much less a Clydesdale, but he decided to take it a step further by riding a Clydesdale in the procession that went out to Irvine Moor. This was despite the fact that he had never ridden a horse of any kind. When you consider that he had never ridden a Clydesdale before, this is an incredible accomplishment on his part. When he was out riding his horse one time, the saddle started to move around, and he came dangerously close to falling off. In addition to the Brother Carters and Irvinites, each and every former member of the Marymass Queens, Maries, Page Boys, Captain, and Ex-Captains.
