Jared Halpin Obituary, Death Cause – After a protracted fight with progressively crippling ailments, Roy Archer Pennington passed away on March 6 at the Poseidon Care Centre. His family was by his side when he passed away in peace, and we are deeply saddened to share this news. Roy’s devoted wife Eleanor, as well as their children Cindy Kendall, Roy (Luella) Pennington, and Janice Pennington, as well as their grandson Reid Pennington, will all miss him dearly.

During the course of his lengthy career, he worked as a firefighting instructor for Levitt Safety, as a salesperson and traveler in the Canadian Arctic, as the National Sales Manager for United Refrigeration, and lastly as the owner of two separate companies.

He took a great deal of pride in the fact that Orion Displays was the first professional fireworks company to be established in Manitoba. What began as an annual volunteer effort for the Norberry Community Club eventually blossomed into a family-run business that provided professional pyrotechnics for the City of Winnipeg, countless other communities, professional sports, and concerts for artists such as Paul McCartney.

Roy was a talented musician from an early age, and he performed the keyboards and accordion at public and private gatherings for the majority of his life. Later in life, he worked at senior facilities and generously volunteered his time there.
