Jean Wesley Obituary, Death Cause – Jean “Gina” M. (Jeffers) Wesley, 84, of Jamestown, New York, was called home to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 30th, 2023, with her husband Henry by her side, and surrounded by loved ones. She was called to rest in eternal, and everlasting peace as she was called home to be with our Lord. Her mother, Maria Sibycha Agatha Jeffers, gave birth to her in New York City on September 4th, 1938. When Jean was just one year old, her mother went away, which left Jean to deal with a lot of difficulties throughout her childhood. But ultimately, that arduous journey would bring her face to face with the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Henry Wesley, whom she wed on November 5th, 1994.
Jean was a very involved member of her community, and as a result, she rapidly developed feelings of affection and concern for everyone she came in contact with. She would frequently invite her pals to hang out with her, but on the condition that they did so at Tim Hortons for a cup of coffee and some’mac-n-cheese.’ She was an active participant in the deeply felt services held at the Blackwell Chapel AME Zion church, which she attended regularly.
Her favorite ways to pass the time in her spare time were weaving on her loom, going on walks while listening to country music, watching the kids across the street play soccer, traveling on vacation with her husband, and relaxing in the sunshine. Jean was a regular attendee of a wide variety of events, including those held at the Michael J. Raymond Center and the Senior Adult Day Hab. Jean discovered in the past few years, through Ancestry DNA research, that her mother, Maria S. Agatha Jeffers, passed away in 1939, when Jean was only 7 months old. This was the reason that Jean became a ward of the state for much of the first part of her life, prior to her triumphant embrace of her long-awaited, and long-overdue chance at independent living.
