- by Sophia Mia
Mary Jane Obituary, Death Cause – It is too late to save Mary Jane. We extend our sincerest condolence. A statement that can be found on social media reads, “Our hearts are so sad today. Yesterday, we were sadly bereft of our sister, Mary Jane Taylor. We are going to miss her beautiful and compassionate presence in our everyday lives, but we also know that she will always be with us in spirit. She is relieved to no longer be in pain, but we should count ourselves fortunate to have had her for as long as we did following her first double lung transplant.
Because of this, our doors will be locked during the entire day on Saturday, May 13th. On Sunday, May 14th, we will resume normal business hours of 10 am to 2 pm. Mary Jane was very interested in both the O’Fallon Woman’s Club and St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where she was a member and where she served as an active member for many years. She had a passion for cruising, and thanks to her husband’s profession in the Navy, she got to see the world. She was a skilled Bridge player and frequently got together with her pals to compete in the game.
Her parents, Hilton and Evelyn, nee Norell Yates, as well as her sister Patricia Yates Compton, passed away before she did. She is survived by her devoted husband Sterling Garnto of O’Fallon, Missouri; her son Jarrod Garnto and his wife Kendra, who reside in Troy; and her adored grandchildren, Zachary Lindow, Jarrod Garnto, Meta Jane Garnto, and Nina Grace Garnto; in addition, she is survived by her brother James T. Yates of Albany, Georgia, and her brother-in-law Wendell (Maxine) Garnto of Dublin, Georgia. It is suggested that gifts be made in memory of the deceased to the charity of one’s choosing.
