Mary Pitman Obituary, Death Cause – The death of Mary Pitman has occurred. We extend our sincerest condolence. Kenneth Gansz, also known as “The Ole Grizz,” was 75 years old when he passed away on May 1, 2023 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. He was from Fort Dodge. The funeral services will take place at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 10:00 AM. St. Paul’s Cemetery in Fort Dodge will be the location of the interment. On Friday, the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge will be open from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM for visitation.
Kenneth Elmer Gansz, the son of Elmer and Hilda (Weiss) Gansz, was born in Fort Dodge on October 27, 1947. Elmer and Hilda (Weiss) Gansz were his parents. Kenneth graduated with the class of 1965 from Fort Dodge Senior High School, where he was a student. In addition, he went to Iowa Central Community College, but he learned what he needed to know through the “school of hard knocks.
The wedding took place on February 14, 1988, between Kenneth and Clara Ewing. They were responsible for the upbringing of Clara’s three children in addition to their own two. The couple eventually got a divorce. Kenneth has spent his whole life working on the farm that his family owns and operates, and in 2009, the Gansz Farm was recognized as a Century Farm. He was part in the process of rearing cattle and is quite glad that the family has been able to keep the farm in the family. Kenneth never retired from farming. He looked forward to harvest season all year long so he could get behind the wheel of that red combine. Even though he was in declining health, he was so happy that he could help with the harvest the year before.
