Nicholas Georgeadis Obituary, Death Cause – Providing support to the Superintendent of the New York State Police in the role of Interim Commissioner I write this message to tell you of the passing of retired Senior Investigator Nicholas A. Georgeadis. It is with deep sorrow that I do so. This news has left Steven A. Nigrelli with a tremendous deal of sorrow. Longtime New York State Police department employee Georgeadis served in the force for a number of years.

Senior Investigator Georgeadis passed away on April 28, 2023 as a consequence of a disease that was caused by his assignment at and around the World Trade Center site in the aftermath of the terrorist attack that took place on September 11, 2001. Georgeadis’s death was the result of an illness that was induced by his assignment at and around the World Trade Center site. Al-Qaeda was responsible for carrying out the attack.

Following the tragic events that occurred on September 11, Senior Investigator Georgeadis was dispatched to New York City to assist in the ongoing efforts to locate and retrieve victims from the rubble of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Senior Investigator Georgeadis, who is now 52 years old, started his employment with the State Police on April 30, 1997. He is currently a Senior Investigator. He has been working there up to the present day.

Before leaving the company on November 28, 2018, to begin his retirement, he had racked up a total of 21 years’ worth of service with the organization. After spending the most of his career working for the Special Investigations Unit of the State Police, he was most recently transferred to the Office of Counterterrorism. Prior to that, he served in various capacities for the State Police. He spent his entire working life in the field of law enforcement.

Georgeadis, the Senior Investigator, spent his childhood in the town of Wilton, which is situated in Saratoga County in the state of New York. Georgeadis was born and reared there. Following his passing, his legacy will be carried on by his wife Amy, along with their three children, Austin, Alexis, and Thomas.
