Owen Cox Obituary, Death Cause – We consider it a privilege and an honor to have the opportunity to tell you about the life of our beloved father, Owen William Cox Jr., who was 89 years old when he passed away in Denver, Colorado, on January 6, 2023. On December 6th, 1933, he was welcomed into the world by his parents, Owen William Cox Sr. and Eleanor Lawton Cox, in Lewisburg, West Virginia. He attended Mount Hope High School and graduated there.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Marshall University, where he had completed his undergraduate studies. In subsequent years, he attended Georgetown University and received his master’s degree from there. Owen’s number one interest was in NASCAR racing. He was a huge fan of motor vehicles. In the late 1950s, he was the proprietor of Price Chevrolet and also served as a racing car sponsor for a local Beckley driver by the name of Paul Prince.

His enthusiasm compelled him to travel all over the United States in search of race car tracks, and he used the opportunity to share with his children his enthusiasm for both racing and history.
Owen got married to his wife Alicia Ann on June 28, 1958, in a big wedding that took place at the First United Methodist Church in Beckley, West Virginia. At the beginning of the 1960s, he and Ann made the move to Maryland.

After obtaining a teaching position in a primary school in the heart of Washington, District of Columbia, he remained in the Maryland region for the subsequent 25 years. Owen took his retirement from teaching in the 1980s and relocated back to Beckley, West Virginia. At the beginning of the 1990s, he and his wife uprooted their lives and relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. The remaining years of his life were spent in Denver, Colorado.
