Stephen Greene Obituary, Australian Football League Member Has Died

Stephen Greene Obituary, Death Cause – Stephen Greene, age 43, lost his fight against cancer early on Monday morning, and the Mitcham Football Club is inconsolable over the news of his death.
Greeney was actively involved in the football program at Mitcham, working alongside senior coach Andy Collins. He was in charge of the management of our player rosters, he assisted the head coach, and he even Stood in for the Reserves when they were short-handed. Despite the fact that he was only involved with our club for a few years, he left quite an effect and was considered to be the epitome of a true professional and clubman.

After Andy left Mitcham, Greeney continued to show his support for him at both the Box Hill Football Club and the Hawthorn Football Club. At both of these clubs, he was admired for his intelligence, organization, expertise, and professionalism in recruitment, opposition, and analytics throughout the course of several years. Stephen went to our Round 1 Presidents luncheon at Walker Park not more than a month ago. There, he spent the day catching up with his old friends from Mitcham and having a great time.

In his normal altruistic manner, he was more interested in how everyone else was traveling through life than talking about his own struggles, and he did this rather than complaining about how difficult things were for him. We are really grateful that many of us had one last opportunity to catch up with Greeney and spend some time with him. Earlier this year, in one of his final messages on social media, he left us all with some very sound counsel that we should all follow. “I want to encourage everyone to live each day to the fullest and to make sure the people they care about are aware of it. Create amazing moments in each day and share your affection with people far and wide.
