Thomas Thompson Obituary, Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at Walnut

Thomas Thompson Obituary, Death Cause – Jim Allmon, who serves as the coroner for Sangamon County, was able to determine the identity of the motorcyclist who was killed in a collision early on Saturday morning close to the intersection of Walnut Street and Lawrence Avenue in Sangamon County. The incident took place in Sangamon County. There were two cars involved in the collision. Thomas “Tommy” Thompson, a resident of Springfield who was located at the scene of the incident and transferred there by workers from emergency medical services, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Springfield Memorial Hospital after being transported there by those workers. According to Allmon, the preliminary investigations point to the fact that Thompson died as a result of several blunt force injuries that he got as a result of the incident. On Monday, the results of the autopsy performed on Thompson were made public once they were completed. The occurrence took place at 11:12 on a Saturday morning, when it was still morning time at the time. According to the statements that were provided by SPD Commander Sara Pickford on Monday, it appears that Thompson was driving in the lane of Walnut that is designated for southbound traffic while the driver of the second vehicle, an SUV, was driving in the lane of Lawrence that is designated for westbound traffic.

The driver of the SUV was injured in the accident and sent to Memorial Hospital for treatment; however, the doctors at Memorial Hospital decided that the driver’s injuries were not critical and did not pose a threat to the driver’s life. The person who was behind the wheel of the car was the only person present in the vehicle at any given time. According to Pickford, there is currently an inquiry being conducted to determine what precipitated the unfortunate event. Pickford asserts that there were communications between members of the Springfield Police Department and witnesses who were present at the scene.
