- by Sophia Mia
Troy Patterson Obituary, Death Cause – The death of Troy Patterson has occurred. “After 33 years, we held out hope,” said Todd Taylor, who is a member of the organization 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care. “It had been a lengthy battle and an uphill battle for him. He was a man of battle.” When Patterson was shot in January of 1990, he had just finished his shift. When he was washing his car on a street in Brooklyn at the time, he was 27 years old. At that time, three young males approached him and demanded $20 from him.
Patterson was shot by one of the robbers, a juvenile of 15 years of age. He was said to be able to smile and react by his pals, despite the fact that he had suffered a terrible accident and lived in a state similar to being vegetative. They never gave up hope that he would eventually go back to the things that brought him joy, such as his family, his music, his automobiles, and his job as a police officer.
“We would put on a good face while we were there, but when we left the room, when we left that meeting, for 33 years, all of us would sit in our cars and, privately, uncontrollably cry while we watched such an energetic, joyful, and good man live his life in that manner,” he added. “We would put on a good face while we were there, but when we left the room, when we left that meeting, for 33 years.”
