Vincent Gallagher Obituary, Vincent Gallagher Has Died

Vincent Gallagher Obituary, Death Cause – One of our club’s founding members, Vincent Gallagher, passed away unexpectedly and unexpectedly, and all of us at the Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan Bord na Nog Club were extremely grieved to learn of his departure. Vincent was a devout member of the GAA and will be remembered for all time as maybe the club’s most successful youth hurling manager in the history of the sport. He will be missed. Vincent was involved with teams at the club at all levels, from the underage to the junior levels, for a number of years. However, his time spent with the all-conquering under 14 feile side in 1998 will be the one that is most lovingly remembered in his honor.

Vincent nurtured many a young hurler at training sessions every Sunday morning which most notably came to fruition in a golden era for underage hurling in the late 90’s and early 2000’s when they rubbed shoulders and beat illustrious opponents like Kilmallock, Patrickswell and Na Piarsaigh to claim premier hurling titles at under 14 and under 16 level and famously reached the 2000 county minor premier hurling final. In 1998, Vincent was the captain of the Limerick under 14 hurling team that went on to win the county championship and go on to compete in the All Ireland Feile na nGael in Wexford town.

On the sidelines of the match in west Limerick, where Vincent’s teams were competing, many people’s lasting impression of Vincent will be of him lighting his pipe. Our club and the community at large will suffer a significant setback as a result of Vincent’s departure. His sons Shane, Michael, and Enda all achieved notable success while competing for the club, and his grandson Jake is currently a part of both our under 11 hurling and under 11 football teams.
